Summer Tour Review and Pictures

Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to John (Ralph's Dad) for sponsoring the tour, its a shame they couldnt join us, it was a big success.

Secondly, well done to Stuart who single handledly organised a fab weekend, not only did he organise the matches but also ensured we were all kept busy over the two days.

Day 1-
After an early start to the day we made good time to reach Rothwell (Kettering), where we played in our first ever 11 a side tournament. We played five matches in total, only winning one of the games, but were very unlucky not to get more out of the other games.
The early start probably took its toll towards the end of the tournament. The coaches though were very pleased with the quality the team showed, some good passing movements. It can be said there was some dubious decisions that seemed to favour the home teams rather than the team from up north.
Other than that we were made to feel very welcome by the hosts and hope to see them up our way next year.
In the evening we went bowling where fun was had by all, except the coach driver who was stuck in the toilet harrasing the local fire brigade.
It was a good day for the Etchells household, Dan was named our player of the tournament and Mike showed his pool skills by winning the dad's 'killer' pool game TWICE!! Brenda, he won at least £50 so expect a little treat from him.
Day 2 -
We paid a visit to Market Harborough where we played a game against their two under 11's team.
Again the coaches were very impressed with how the team played. Harborough FC give us a really good game, both teams were well matched and it was a very tight game until the last quarter of the game when we ended up winning the game 5 - 2. Everyone was excellent, imparticular Arnie and Euan were ouotstanding and were named as players of the match.
A special mention must go to Dom, who due his bravery in goal, picked up an ankle injury and had to go to hospital, thankfully no damage was done and he was able to join us on the coach for the trip back.
Again we were well looked after by the hosts and look forward to having them a rematch at some point next year.
In summary, the tour was a real success on and off the pitch, our aim next year is to take the team to Holland!
