Match report v Wakefield Jets away
The finest team effort to date (over 2 seasons) with
clear commitment from every player on
the park! First to the ball from front to back and praise to the effort of both
strikers (Charles & Seamus) who closed down the defence and keeper at every
opportunity. Midfield beginning to flourish by fighting for the ball and
playing a passing game through some tough challenges as well as getting back to
assist the defenders.
Extra praise must go the back four of Euan, Rhys, Dom and
Daniel. A finer unit would not be seen this side of Italy with the flying
sweeper Dan getting 3 if we include a header deflected into the net by the Jets
last man....a moment that was applauded, acknowledged and appreciated by all
who know how he likes to play the ball at his feet! "If God had wanted us
to play football in the clouds he'd of put grass up there" (Clough),
"If we don't get our head on the ball we'll never have our head in the
clouds" (O'Loan). Man of the match is Rob for a clean sheet and excellent
command of his area. Special mention must also go to the youngest members of
the squad who stepped up, turned on and tuned in!
